David DeIuliis Named Head Coach of Franklin Pierce Women’s Rowing Program

DeIuliis brings nearly a decade of collegiate head coaching experience

Ravens Rowing The Ravens' women's rowing program will be under new leadership beginning this fall.

RINDGE, N.H. (August 21, 2014) – Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Bruce Kirsh announced on Thursday that David DeIuliis has been named the head coach of the women's rowing program on the Rindge campus. DeIuliis brings to Franklin Pierce extensive collegiate coaching experience, as well as wide-ranging instructional experience teaching rowers of all ages.

"I am grateful to Athletic Director Bruce Kirsh for giving me this great opportunity and I am excited to be joining the Franklin Pierce team," DeIuliis said. "I cannot wait to start working with these student-athletes and I look forward to building on their past successes, while working towards the ultimate goal of making them among the most competitive women's crews in the region."

DeIuliis comes to Franklin Pierce after a six-year stint at one of the more prestigious universities in the nation, as he served as the head rowing coach at Brandeis from May 2008 through this past spring. Though Brandeis' rowing program exists at the club level, the institution has a strong tradition of nationally successful club programs and DeIuliis oversaw all aspects of the rowing operation, including generating in- and out-of-season workout plans, boat rigging and repairing, and regatta entries.

Prior to Brandeis, DeIuliis spent three years as the varsity head coach at Wentworth Tech, leading a program he built from the ground up starting in January 2005. While overseeing all aspects of the program, he built the Leopards into a team which owned four boats and traveled to regattas up and down the East Coast. In their first full season of competition, DeIuliis led Wentworth Tech to a finals appearance at the Dad Vail Regatta, which bills itself as the largest regular intercollegiate rowing event in the country.

Outside of collegiate rowing, DeIuliis has held a variety of rowing instructional positions throughout Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, where he has introduced novices to the sport and overseen competitive rowing programs at both the Junior and Masters levels. As a result, he brings a wide range of rowing experiences from throughout the region with him to his new position in Rindge.

"We are very pleased to welcome David DeIuliis to the Franklin Pierce family," Kirsh said. "He brings great passion and energy to our women's rowing program, as well as a background within the sport which will greatly benefit our student-athletes. I look forward to working with him as he leads our program into its next chapter."

DeIuliis will join the University on Sept. 1 and will immediately begin preparations for the program's 2014-15 campaign.
