Cross Country Picked Sixth (Men) and 12th (Women) in Northeast-10 Coaches’ Poll

Northeast-10 Cross Country Pre-Championship Polls

RINDGE, N.H. (October 20, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team has been picked to finish sixth in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Championship, while the women have been selected 12th, as announced on Thursday afternoon, with the release of the Northeast-10 Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll by the Conference office.

The Northeast-10 Championship is set to be run on Saturday, Oct. 22, and will be hosted by Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. The men's race is set for 11 a.m., with the women's race to follow at noon.

On the men's side of things, the Ravens finished third at the event a year ago. Up front, defending champion American International received 12 of 15 first-place votes and 193 points and was picked up repeat as Northeast-10 Champion. Stonehill (180 points) picked up two first-place votes and was picked second. Bentley (166 points) was selected third, while Southern New Hampshire (160 points) picked up the remaining first-place vote and was picked fourth. Adelphi (138 points) took fifth, just one point in front of Franklin Pierce (137 points).

On the women's front, the Ravens placed 12th last season, exactly where they've been picked this fall. At the top of the poll, defending champion Stonehill was the unanimous pick to repeat, with 196 points and 14 of 15 first-place votes (coaches are not allowed to vote for their own school. Stonehill gave its first-place vote to Assumption (175 points), which took second. Rounding out top five in the poll was Bentley (154 points) in third, Merrimack (145 points) in fourth and American International (143 points) in fifth.
