Cross Country to Host NCAA Championship East Regional for Second Straight Year

Event set for Nov. 8 in Hopkinton, N.H.

RINDGE, N.H. (July 30, 2015) – For the second year in a row, the Franklin Pierce University cross country program will play host to the NCAA Championship East Regional. After combining with fellow Northeast-10 member Merrimack to co-host in Nashua, N.H. a year ago, the Ravens will be the sole host of the 2015 event, set for Sunday, Nov. 8, at Hopkinton (N.H.) Fairgrounds.

The 25-plus teams of the East Region will descend on Hopkinton, N.H. on Nov. 8 for the East Regional, with the women's 6k race set for 11 a.m. and the men's 10k race set for 12:15 p.m. In each race, the top three teams will advance through to the final round of the NCAA Championships, which are set for Nov. 21 in Joplin, Mo. In addition, the top three individuals who are not a member of a qualifying team will advance to the national championship race as well.

To help teams prepare for the East Regional, Franklin Pierce will also host its annual Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup at Hopkinton Fairgrounds as well this fall, as a preview for NCAA competition. The third annual Kirsh Cup is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16.

More info on the course at Hopkinton Fairgrounds and the logistics of the East Regional will be available at a later date.

A year ago, the Franklin Pierce men placed fourth at the East Regional, while the women took 14th place. The two teams open their 2015 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Roger Williams Invitational in Bristol, R.I.
