Albee School Record Leads Men’s Track & Field at SNHU Spring Invitational

Croix Albee

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 6, 2019) – It was three event wins and eight top-three finishes on Saturday for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team, highlighted by a school-record performance from freshman Croix Albee (Trenton, Maine) in the shot put. The Ravens would ultimately finish third in the six-team meet.

In all, the Ravens chalked up 100 points on the day. Franklin Pierce finished third behind Merrimack (206 points) and Plymouth State (129 points).

Albee heaved the shot put 14.00 meters, which was good enough to win the event, and set a new school record in the process. Franklin Pierce's other two event wins on the day came courtesy of freshmen Ishmael Johnson (Lynn, Mass.) and Aaron Young (Colchester, Conn.). Johnson won the triple jump with a mark of 12.66 meters, while Young was the only student-athlete to clear a height in the pole vault and finished first with a mark of 3.60 meters.

Freshman Ethan Pezzullo (Bristol, R.I.) posted a pair of top-three finishes, as he finished second in the long jump (6.05m) and third in the 100-meter dash (11.63). He was also a part of another top-three finish, as he ran the lead leg on a second-place finish for the 4x100-meter relay team. He was followed by freshman Devin Jones (Manchester, N.H.), junior Gerald Leith (Dorchester, Mass.) and junior Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.), as the quartet posted a time of 44.42 seconds.

Franklin Pierce's remaining two top-three finishes were on the track as well. Jones finished third in the 200-meter dash (23.04), while freshman Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) took second in the 800 meters (2:00.29).

The Ravens return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, when they travel to New London, Conn., for the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College.
