Neville Leads Way as Men’s Track & Field Wins PSU Winter Classic

PLYMOUTH, N.H. (December 9, 2017) – Junior Jaris Neville (Atlanta, Ga.) won a pair of events on Saturday -- posting two NEICAAA Championship qualifying marks and tying a school record in the process -- to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team at the PSU Winter Classic, hosted by Plymouth State. His two wins were among six posted by the Ravens on the day, as they came away winners at the meet.

In all, Franklin Pierce collected 159 points to finish first at the 10-team event. The Ravens posted more than a 15-point margin of victory over second-place Fitchburg State (142.5 points), while host Plymouth State placed third (137 points).

Neville posted his victories in the 60- and 200-meter dashes, and met the NEICAAA qualifying standard in each event. He posted a time of 7.04 seconds at the shorter distance and ran the 200 in 22.78 seconds. Neville's time in the former matched the school record in the event.

Also on the track, the Ravens got an individual win from sophomore Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) and a pair of relay victories. Hayes was victorious in the 1000 meters, with a time of 2:37.71. In the 4x200-meter relay, it was a run of 1:32.68 for the win, from Neville, sophomore Jebediah Hogan (Gloucester, Mass.), senior Daniel Warner (Windham, N.H.) and senior Nicholas Jacques (Westfield, Mass.). In the distance medley relay, it was a quartet of freshman Ryan Ducrow (Amesbury, Mass.), freshman Antonio Rua (Burrillville, R.I.), senior Joshua Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.) and freshman Cody Tallent (Bellows Falls, Vt.), who turned in a time of 11:30.88 to take first place.

Franklin Pierce's remaining first-place finish came in a field event, courtesy of sophomore Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.). He turned in a long jump of 6.49 meters.

Five other Ravens posted individual top-five finishes at Plymouth State on Saturday. On the track, sophomore Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) finished second in the 3000 meters (9:05.23), Ercolini took third in the 1000 meters (2:38.50) and freshman Colin Stoddard (Charlton, Mass.) placed third in the 400 meters (52.75). In field events, junior Robert Boardman (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) was third in the high jump (1.90m) and sophomore Jack Ehrhardt (Point Pleasant, N.J.) was third in the long jump (6.25m).

Elsewhere, a pair of Ravens were in action at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, as they travelled to the Husky Indoor Invite, hosted by Northeastern. Freshman Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) was victorious in the 800 meters, with a time of 1:53.93, while sophomore Jeff Reddy (Chester, N.H.) took first in the 5000 meters, with a mark of 15:20.31.

The Ravens now head into the semester break and return to action on Jan. 5-7, when they send select athletes to the Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, N.H.
