PITTSBURG, Kan. (March 12, 2016) – Graduate student Andre Wooten (St. Charles, Mo.) wrapped up the indoor season for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team on Saturday, as he finished 13th in the triple jump at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Pittsburg State and the Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Every competitor in the 17-athlete triple jump field was guaranteed three jumps on Saturday, with the top nine advancing to earn three more to decide the national champion. Wooten's first jump went for 14.56 meters, which was good for 11th, but he slipped to 13th place after fouling on the second jump. Wooten's third jump was his best of the day, as he hit 14.60 meters, which was ultimately still good for 13th place.

Texas A&M-Commerce sophomore DeVontae Steele became the only student-athlete in the nation to top 16 meters in the triple jump this winter, as he posted a hop, skip and jump of 16.09 meters on his fifth jump to capture the national title. He narrowly beat out Findlay sophomore Michael Bruce, who finished second at 15.96 meters.

Wooten and the Ravens return to the track on Saturday, March 19, when they open the outdoor season by traveling to the Tribe Invitational, hosted by The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.
