Men’s Track sports top finishes at Pride Classic

WESTON, Mass. (April 26, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University Ravens Men's Track and Field team sported plenty of solid finishes on Sunday afternoon, as they traveled to Regis College to participate in the Pride Classic. The Ravens were well represented on the scoreboard throughout most of the events.

Notable top finishes from Franklin Pierce started with a 1-2-3 finish from three different Ravens teams of four in the 4x800 meter relay. The top finishing team included senior Makopa Rugabirwa (Concord, N.H.), freshman Garrett Sarnie (Basket Ridge, N.J.), freshman Martin Gradijan (Lebanon, N.H.), and sophomore Joey Souza (West Bridgewater, Mass.). The foursome finished with a top time of 8:24.83.

Freshman Josh Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.) brought home a top finish, placing first in the 400 meter dash. He set a season best time of 50.27 seconds, and is now tied for 12th in the Northeast-10 Conference. Sophomore Cory Cataldo (Tewksbury, Mass.) also finished first in the long jump, as he set a distance of 6.41 meters.

Sticking to field events, sophomore Mark Josselyn (Halifax, Mass.) competed in the hammer throw, and finished second after a toss of 40.41 meters. The throw was a season best for Josselyn, and he now ranks 10th in the Northeast-10.

Other notable finishes for the Ravens were a second place finish by freshman Nick Jacques (Westfield, Mass.) in the 200 meters, while junior Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) finished third in the 800 meters. Finishing up solid finishes in the field was a second place finish by sophomore Dylan Crowley (Woburn, Mass.) in the 1500 meters. In the field, freshman Rindal Pierre-Canal (Randolph, Mass.) finished second in the Triple Jump with a distance of 12.83 meters.
