Men’s Track and Field puts names all over leaderboard in second day at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. (February 28, 2015) – Junior Vinny Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) highlighted a day of awards and honors for the Franklin Pierce Men's Track and Field team, as they wrapped up the second day of the NEICAAA Championships at the BU Track and Tennis Center.

Biunno followed up a strong first day by finishing second in the heptathlon with a point total of 5110, which ended up a season-best for him. After his four events yesterday, Biunno finished third in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.45 seconds, tied for fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.04 meters, and finished fourth in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:50.81 minutes. His height in the pole vault and time in the 1000 ended up as season-best times for Biunno. His effort over the weekend earned him All-New England honors.

Sophomore Dage Minors (Hamilton Parrish, Bermuda) also put in a strong showing, finishing as the New England champion in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.71 minutes. He also earned All-New England honors.

In other Ravens' efforts, sophomore Cory Cataldo (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished ninth in the 60 meter hurdles with his season-best time of 8.54 seconds. Senior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) finished 25th in the mile, finishing with a time of 4:17.81 minutes. Lastly, the 4x800 meter relay team of Alex Bonitto (Lynn, Mass.), Josh Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.), Matt Carpenter (Gloucester, Mass.), and Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) finished 15th with a time of 7:52.79 minutes.

The Ravens will compete tomorrow, March 1, in the BU Last Chance Meet hosted by Boston University.
