Dage Minors Caps Brilliant Rookie Season by Competing at 2014 NCAA Track Championships

Antoine Gisore set to compete in Saturday's finals of the 800 meters

800 METER RESULTS (Friday's Preliminaries)

ALLENDALE, Mich. (May 23, 2014) – Franklin Pierce University men’s track rookie standout Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) capped his impressive freshman season Friday night by competing in the 800 meters at the 2014 NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.

Minors finished sixth in his heat, and 19th out of 20 competitors in the prelims with a time of 1:54.75. He missed qualifying for Sunday’s finals in the 800 meters by three seconds, as the top nine competitors competing in the three-heat event advanced to the championship race.

Despite missing out on the finals in the 800 meters, Minors put together a strong freshman season by even qualifying for the NCAA championships. His performance during the fall cross country season, and during the spring outdoor track season sets the stage for what is sure to be an amazing four-year collegiate career for Minors.

Minors was one of two Ravens competing at this weekend’s NCAA track championships, with the other being junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.), who qualified for the national finals in the 1500 meters, which will be held on Saturday. Gisore competed in the event’s preliminary races on Thursday, and finished with the fifth fastest time overall to punch his ticket to the final race. Twelve (12) competitors will be competing in the national finals on Saturday, with the top-eight earning All-America honors. A finish among the top-eight for Gisore would guarantee the Franklin Pierce program its first Division II All-American in just its second full season of varsity competition.
