SNHU Shutouts Men’s Tennis 7-0

Nkrumah Patrick

RINDGE, N.H. (April 6, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team hosted their first home Northeast-10 Conference contest of the season and were bettered 7-0 by interstate rival Southern New Hampshire University. The loss sends the Ravens to 8-6 on the year and 3-2 in league play while the Penmen move to 9-3 overall and remain unblemished, 5-0 in conference play.

SNHU took all three doubles matches and snared the doubles point. The no. 2 doubles pairing of freshman Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) and junior Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) and the no. 3 doubles duo of senior James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) and senior Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.) lost by only one, falling 7-6 in both matches.

The Penmen collected the six singles matches to complete the 7-0 sweep of FPU. Sophomore Nkrumah Patrick (Tunapuna, Trinidad, and Tobago) and Schadt each made it tough on their opponents, however. Patrick dueled Emmanuel Vacalares at the no. 3 singles spot as he narrowly fell 6-4, 6-4. Schadt battled Miguel Marreiros in no. 5 singles dropping the set 6-3, 6-4.

The Ravens return to action on Tuesday for the second game of their three-game homestand when they battle conference foe Merrimack College at 2:30 p.m.
