Men’s Tennis Collects Quartet of All-NE10 Honors

Roberto Chong

Northeast-10 Men's Tennis All-Conference awards

RINDGE, N.H. (April 30, 2019) – An All-Northeast-10 Conference Second Team selection for sophomore Roberto Chong (Puigpunyent, Spain) highlighted four All-Conference selections for the Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team, as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the Conference office. The Ravens also collected three All-NE10 Third Team accolades, as freshman Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.), junior Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya’akov, Israel) and the doubles team of seniors James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) and Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.) were all honored. In addition, Gordon and sophomore Nkrumah Patrick (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago) were both named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team.

The NE10 determines All-Conference selections on a strictly objective basis, by tallying the individual records of players in matches against league opponents. The All-Rookie Team and the league’s major awards were determined by a vote of NE10 coaches.

Chong led the way for the Ravens, and earned Second Team accolades for his work at first singles. He chalked up a 7-2 singles record on the year, while playing in all nine of the team’s NE10 matches. The mark included a 5-1 record at first singles and a 2-1 mark at second singles. It was Chong’s second straight All-NE10 selection at first singles, as he was named to the Third Team last season.

Gordon and Barak took home Third Team nods for their success at second and fourth singles, respectively. Gordon posted a 5-3 singles record, which included 2-2 at second singles and 3-1 at third singles. Meanwhile, Barak was 4-4 against league foes this year, with a 2-2 record at fourth singles and a 2-2 record at fifth singles.

Finally, Bisazza and Schadt collected Third Team accolades as a team, in recognition of their work at third doubles. The duo appeared together in six NE10 matches and put together a 3-3 record, which included 0-1 at second doubles and 3-2 at third doubles. Bisazza earns All-NE10 honors for the second straight season, as he was a Second Team selection at second singles a year ago.

Patrick was eligible for All-Rookie Team selection as a sophomore, as he did not compete as a freshman a year ago. He finished 5-4 in singles play on the season, which included a 2-3 record at third singles and a 3-1 mark at fourth singles.

The Ravens are in action on Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the NE10 Championship at Le Moyne.
