Men’s Tennis Downed at Webber International, 7-1

BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 20, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated on the road in non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon, 7-1, at Webber International.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 6-5, while Webber International improves to 5-8.

The lone point of the day for the Ravens came at first singles. Freshman Roberto Chong (Puigpunyent, Spain) took the first set, but the match ultimately went to a tiebreaker set. The tiebreaker set then went long, with Chong ultimately squeaking out a 6-4, 4-6, 12-10 victory over junior Hugo Hasegawa.

At third doubles, sophomore Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) was locked in a tight match with freshman Marc Schneider. Things were essentially even, with Barak holding an 8-7 edge, but the match would not be finished, with the team match already decided.

Webber International took all three doubles matches and tacked on four singles victories to create the 7-1 final. Four different Warriors were victorious in both singles and doubles play on Tuesday.

The Ravens return to the court on Wednesday, March 21, when they wrap up their spring break trip by visiting Warner for a non-conference match at 9:30 a.m. in Winter Haven, Fla.
