Ravens visit Merrimack on Sept. 30

RINDGE, N.H. (September 19, 2012) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, at home by Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-3 (0-3 Northeast-10), while Bentley opens the season 1-0 (1-0 Northeast-10).

The first doubles flight would prove to be the most competitive of the day, as sophomores Christopher Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) and Keith Bujak (Lyndeborough, N.H.) squared off with Bentley senior Rodrigo Ribeiro and sophomore Raghav Tanna. The Franklin Pierce pair held its own before ultimately falling, 8-5.

Later, in singles play, Bentley would surrender just 11 games across six matches on its way to finishing the afternoon sweep. Brewer again would provide the most resistance for the Ravens, as he faced off with junior Jimmy Rindo at second singles. Brewer hung tight through the first set, before eventually falling, 6-4, 6-0.

For Bentley, five different players won in both singles and doubles play, led by Ribeiro, who would emerge victorious in the first flights of each. After teaming with Tanna for the first doubles win, Ribeiro cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at first singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Sunday, Sept. 30 when they travel to Merrimack for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 2:30 p.m. in North Andover, Mass.
