Bujak notches win at fourth singles

Bujak Bujak picked up the Ravens' lone point with a win at fourth singles on Friday afternoon.

EASTON, Mass. (September 14, 2012) – Sophomore Keith Bujak (Lyndeborough, N.H.) picked up a win at fourth singles on Friday afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 8-1, on the road at Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-2 (0-2 Northeast-10), while Stonehill, ranked eighth in the East Region, opens the season 1-0 (1-0 Northeast-10).

Bujak undoubtedly had the most successful afternoon for the Ravens. He opened the day by pairing with sophomore Chris Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) at first doubles. The pair hung close to Stonehill sophomore Eric Ringstad and junior Nick Hyzak, before falling, 8-4. Bujak then squared off with sophomore Jared Drzal and opened with a 6-4 win in the first set. After Drzal responded with a 6-4 win of his own in the second set, the match went to a tiebreak. Like the two sets, the tiebreaker proved tightly competitive, with Bujak squeaking out the 10-8 win.

Four Stonehill players posted wins in both doubles and singles play on Friday, led by Ringstad. After his win at first doubles, he breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 19 when they return home to host Bentley in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 4 p.m. in Rindge.
