Gilhuly Gihuly was victorious for the Ravens in the top flights of both singles and doubles play on Sunday afternoon against Le Moyne.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 7, 2013) – Junior Pat Gilhuly (Killingworth, Conn.) and sophomore Chris Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) teamed for a win at first doubles before posting victories at first and second singles, respectively, on Sunday afternoon to lead the Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team to a 7-2 win over Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 2-4 (1-4 Northeast-10), while Le Moyne falls to 1-10 (0-8 Northeast-10).

Gilhuly and Brewer led the way to a Ravens sweep of doubles play on Sunday by picking up an 8-5 win over Le Moyne sophomore Shane Evans and junior Alessandro Nieves at first doubles. Meanwhile, freshman Jared Taylor (Pelham, N.H.) and sophomore Nikolaus Pellegrino (Pawcatuck, Conn.) downed junior Daryl Johnson and graduate student Michael Green, 8-4, at second doubles and freshman Drew Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) and sophomore Mark Petrie notched an 8-2 win over freshmen Blaine Drake and Tyler Shaban at third doubles to give Franklin Pierce a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

Gilhuly and Brewer proceeded to take care of business themselves, as wins at first and second singles locked up the team victory for Franklin Pierce. Gilhuly was dominant at first singles, breezing to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Johnson, while Brewer went past Evans at second singles, 6-4, 6-1. Farther down the sheet for the Ravens, Petrie bested Drake, 6-1, 6-2, at fifth singles, and Pellegrino posted an 8-3 win in the pro set format over sophomore John Gerstner at sixth singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Monday, April 8, when they remain home to host Merrimack in a Northeast-10 Conference match at noon.
