Q&A with Men's Tennis Senior Sam Aubin

Aubin enjoys the scenery that surrounds the Rindge campus

(Editor's Note: This is the latest installment in the Raven Student-Athlete Feature Series. This time, Anthony Chighisola sits down and talks with men's tennis senior Sam Aubin.)

By Anthony Chighisola (Athletics Student Writer)

AC: What made you choose Franklin Pierce?

SA: I chose Franklin Pierce because of its small size and I really enjoyed the campus with the great view of Mount Monadnock and Pearly Pond.

AC: What's your favorite thing about Franklin Pierce?

SA: My favorite thing about FPU is the people.  The four years I have been here people have come and gone, but all my friends that have stayed are great people and for the most part everyone shares similar qualities. Having Big Earl making sandwiches around the corner doesn't hurt either.

AC: How was the tennis team this year?

SA: Out of the four years I have been here, this is by far the best year for men's tennis.  We had the best record the school has seen in the past eight years.  Everyone is dedicated and has the will to win. The coming years should be even better.

AC: Do you consider yourself a leader on the team?

SA: I do consider myself a leader on the team. I do not have as much tennis experience as other members of the team, but I do bring certain leadership qualities to the team.  If it came down to it, I would take a personal loss and a team victory over a personal win and a team loss any day.

AC: What do you personally bring to the tennis team?

SA: Like I said before, I bring certain leadership qualities to the team.  I also have collegiate experience playing that I can share with the younger players by telling them what they should expect when playing another team.

AC: Any advice for incoming freshman who want to play tennis?

SA: My advice to incoming freshmen who want to play tennis is to just go out and join the team.  Do not just sit around and think about it, whether you play in the top six or not you are part of the team, and will get to practice and participate with the team.
