Men’s Tennis Falls to Pace, 7-2
Wong wins in both doubles and singles

Wong won at both third doubles (8-6) and fifth singles (8-2) against Pace on Wednesday.EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (April 13, 2011) – Junior Andrew Wong (Hong Kong) won at both fifth singles and third doubles on Wednesday morning, but the Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 7-2, by Pace in neutral-site, Northeast-10 Conference play.
With the loss, Franklin Pierce concludes its season at 1-10 (1-10 Northeast-10), while Pace improves to 4-7 (4-5 Northeast-10).
Pace took two of the three doubles matches to open with a 2-1 lead. Wong and freshman Mikie Connor (Newburyport, Mass.) earned the point for Franklin Pierce at third doubles with an 8-6 win over Pace freshman Jonathan Leak and senior Matt Schaefer. Meanwhile, juniors Ben Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) and Sam Aubin (Manchester, N.H.) hung tough at first doubles, but were ultimately defeated, 8-5, by Pace junior Ignacio Ortiz and senior Daniel Klein.
Wong also picked up the other point of the day for Franklin Pierce with an 8-2 win in the pro-set format over Leak at fifth singles.
Four different Pace players won in both doubles and singles play on Wednesday, including a dominant, 6-0, 6-1 win by Klein at third singles.
