Mens Tennis Shutout At Le Moyne, 9-0
Ravens back in action against Saint Anselm on April 7
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (February
27, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University
men’s tennis team was defeated, 9-0, by Le Moyne in
Northeast-10 Conference play in at Le Moyne on Saturday. With the
loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-5 (0-5 Northeast-10), while Le
Moyne improves to 1-5 (1-2 Northeast-10) with the victory.
Junior Dan McDonough had one of the stronger days
on the court for Franklin Pierce. He teamed with sophomore forward
Ryo Miyazaki (Tokyo, Japan) at second doubles and
dropped an 8-4 decision to sophomores Andrew Gleason and James
Shelp of Le Moyne. Meanwhile, at third singles, McDonough was
defeated, 8-3 in the pro-set format by Shelp.
In all, four Le Moyne players were victorious in both singles and
doubles on the afternoon, led by Brian Rice, who dropped just three
games on the afternoon. He teamed with fellow sophomore Dan
Sullivan to pick up an 8-3 win at first doubles and also scored a
6-0, 6-0 whitewashing in second singles.
The Ravens return to the court on Wednesday, April 7, when they
return home to host Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 Conference match
at 4 p.m. in Rindge, N.H.
