Men’s Tennis Drops Season-Opener To Southern New Hampshire, 8-1

Roland Oganyan won his singles match against Southern New Hampshire on Sunday.

RINDGE, N.H. (September 21, 2008) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team lost the first match of its season on Sunday afternoon, 8-1, to Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Senior Roland Oganyan (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) picked up the only win of the day for the Ravens with a 6-1, 6-2 decision in singles against SNHU senior Colin Stone (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Central).

Franklin Pierce senior Helder Noguiera (Dourados, Brazil) and freshman Benjamin Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt./Brattleboro Union) held their own before falling 8-6 against SNHU senior Luis Ramirez (San Cristobal, Venezuela) and junior David Spaggiari (Manizales, Colombia).

Penmen freshmen Andrew Barrett (Marion, Mass./Old Rochester Regional) and Jeff Bunker (Salem, N.H./Salem) joined Ramirez and Spaggiari as the four players who were victorious in both singles and doubles for Southern New Hampshire.

The Ravens (0-1, 0-1 NE-10) return to the court on Thursday, September 25, when they host Bentley in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at 1 p.m. in Rindge, N.H. Southern New Hampshire (2-0, 2-0 NE-10) is back in action on Sept. 27 at Merrimack.
