Mens Tennis Nipped At Saint Anselm, 5-4
Noguiera, Phataraprasit post victories in singles and doubles
Helder Noguiera collected wins in both singles and doubles at Saint
Anselm on Wednesday afternoon.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 15, 2009)
– The Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team was
narrowly defeated on Wednesday afternoon, 5-4, in Northeast-10
Conference play at Saint Anselm.
Franklin Pierce tallied one of its points in first doubles, as
senior Helder Noguiera (Dourados,
Brazil) and sophomore Adit
Phataraprasit (Bangkok, Thailand) teamed up to defeat junior
Ryan Garrette (Conway, N.H./Kennett) and freshman Conor McCormack
(Worcester, Mass./Doherty), 9-7.
The Ravens also won three of the day’s six singles matches.
Noguiera and Phataraprasit both won their second matches of the day
Noguiera downed McCormack, 6-2, 6-2, and Phataraprasit bettered
Garrette, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. Freshman Ryo Miyazaki (Tokyo, Japan) collected
the other point of the afternoon for Franklin Pierce with a 6-3,
6-3 victory over Saint Anselm junior Thomas Pickin (Newport,
R.I./Portsmouth Abbey).
For Saint Anselm, junior John Oberlander (Beverly, Mass./St.
John’s Prep) and freshman Alexander Schultheis (Warwick,
R.I./Bishop Hendricken) each posted wins in both singles and
doubles to help the Hawks squeak out the victory.
The Ravens conclude their season at 1-8 (1-7 Northeast-10). Saint
Anselm (4-5, 4-5 Northeast-10) returns to action on April 17 at
Merrimack.
