Stonehill Shuts Out Franklin Pierce in 9-0 Win

EASTON, Mass. (March 28
2008) – Stonehill College stayed unbeaten in the
Northeast-10 Conference with a 9-0 victory over Franklin Pierce
University in NE-10 men’s tennis action on Thursday
afternoon.
The top four players for Stonehill each earned two wins on the
afternoon, led by sophomore Michael Mashkevich (Framingham,
Mass./Framingham) and freshman Tim Fayed (Glastonbury,
Conn./Glastonbury). The duo teamed up for an 8-4 win at first
doubles, then won their first and second singles matches,
respectively. Mashkevich defeated senior Austin Gardella
(Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, while
Fayed did not drop a game against junior Roland Oganyan
(Watertown, Mass./Watertown), 6-0, 6-0.
Juniors Jason Allegretti (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) and William
Herchel (Hampden, Mass./ Minneshaug Regional) each recorded a pair
of wins as well for the Skyhawks, as the two players won at second
doubles before separately earning 6-0, 6-0 victories at third and
fourth singles, respectively.
Franklin Pierce (1-5, 1-5 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday
when the Ravens take on American International College beginning at
noon. Stonehill (7-3, 3-0 NE-10) will host Saint Michael’s
College Saturday at noon.
