Franklin Pierce Opens with 7-2 Victory at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 14, 2007) - Franklin Pierce opened its 2007 season with a 7-2 victory at Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action on Tuesday.

Sophomore Roland Oganyan (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) led the double-winners for Franklin Pierce as he collected a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number two singles and teamed with junior Ryan Strayer (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Enfield (Conn.) HS) for an 8-2 decision at No. 2 doubles. Junior Michel Vitulano (Montreal, Quebec/College de Maisonneuve) and freshman Matthijs Eppinga (Drachten, The Netherlands) were also double-winners for the Ravens.

The Ravens overcame a 2-1 deficit after the three doubles matches by taking five of the six singles contests. Freshman John Oberlander (Beverly, Mass./St. John's Prep) won Saint Anselm's lone singles point at No. 4.         

Franklin Pierce (1-0, 1-0 NE-10) is back in action on Monday when it hosts Southern New Hampshire University at 2 p.m. Saint Anselm (0-3, 0-3 NE-10) visits Assumption College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
