Assumption Blanks Franklin Pierce, 9-0
RINDGE, N.H. (April 17, 2006) - Assumption College swept Franklin Pierce, 9-0, in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action this afternoon.
Senior Michael Goldman (Worcester, Mass./Doherty) led the double-winners for Assumption, which notched its 100th consecutive Northeast-10 match. Goldman posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles after teaming with freshman Jared Dorfman (Providence, R.I./LaSalle Academy) for an 8-3 triumph at No. 1 doubles.
Franklin Pierce (2-8, 2-8 NE-10) rounds out the regular season tomorrow when it hosts Bryant University at 3:30 p.m. Assumption (13-3, 11-0 NE-10) opens defense of its Northeast-10 Conference title on Wednesday with a first round match up against an opponent to be determined.
