Franklin Pierce Falls to Shepherd and Allegheny
HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 17, 2004) - Franklin Pierce men's tennis suffered 7-2 losses to Shepherd and Allegheny in Hilton Head, South Carolina today.
Captains Darko Minic (Belgrade, Serbia/XII Belgrade Gimnasium) and Maciej Szpakowski (Cieszyn, Poland/Mattituck (N.Y.)) took their #1 doubles match 8-5 over Brian Clarke (Hedgesville, W.V./Hedgesville) and Tim Halter (New Market, Md./Linganore) for the Ravens' first point against Shepherd.
Minic was also responsible for Franklin Pierce's only win in singles competition as he defeated Clarke 6-3, 6-4 in the #1 slot.

In their second match of the day, the Ravens faced Allegheny and fell 7-2.
Szpakowski picked up a win at #2 singles over John Pappas (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) 6-3, 7-5, and also posted an 8-5 win at #1 doubles with Minic over Seth Wilmore (Solon, Ohio/Solon) and Pappas.
Franklin Pierce (2-5, 1-0 NE-10) was scheduled to face Colby-Sawyer on Friday, but the match has been cancelled; the team next travels to Stonehill on March 24 for a Conference match at 3 p.m.
