Szpakowski Sweeps at Singles and Doubles
RINDGE, N.H. (April 16, 2004) - The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team won its third straight match with a 7-2 win over Merrimack in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.
In singles action Arun Lazarus (Bradenton, Fla./Bayshore) defeated Peter Arsenault (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) 6-0, 6-1 at #1 singles; Maciej Szpakowski (Cieszyn, Poland/Mattituck (N.Y.)) blanked Dan Hrobak (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin) 6-0, 6-0 at #3 singles, while junior Ryan Jones (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) defeated Brian Reilly (Bronxville, NY/Bronxville) 6-0, 6-1 at #4 singles. Senior J.P. Morgan (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays) and sophomore Craig Weeks (Chepachet, R.I./Johnston) also picked up one-on-one wins for Franklin Pierce.
The Ravens #1 and #3 doubles
combinations recorded victories, both by the score 8-0.
Franklin Pierce (6-11, 5-3 NE-10) next hosts Saint Michael's in a
Northeast-10 match tomorrow at 1 p.m., while Merrimack ends its
season today with a record of 1-8, 1-8 in the Northeast-10.
