Franklin Pierce Blanks American International, 9-0
Ravens sweep match, hold Yellow Jackets to one game
RINDGE, N.H. (April 12, 2004) - The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team swept American International in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.
The Ravens lost just one game the entire match as senior captain Darko Minic (Belgrade, Serbia/XII Belgrade Gimnasium), junior Ryan Jones (Westfield, N.J./Westfield), and classmate Maciej Szpakowski (Cieszyn, Poland/Mattituck (N.Y.)) blanked the Yellow Jackets at #1, #2 and #3 singles, each winning 6-0, 6-0. J.P. Morgan (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays) also picked a win for Franklin Pierce at #4 singles as he defeated Nihad Biscanin 6-0, 6-1.
Due to a lack of players, American International forfeited its #5 and #6 singles matches as well as its #3 doubles match. Both doubles combinations for the Ravens posted 8-0 victories.
Franklin Pierce (5-11, 4-3 NE-10) next hosts Bryant on Thursday in a Northeast-10 contest at 3 p.m., while AIC (0-8, 0-7 NE-10) faces Albertus Magnus at home on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
