RINDGE, N.H. (April 2, 2003) - The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team recorded its second-straight Northeast-10 Conference win with a 9-0 shutout over intra-state rival, Southern New Hampshire University in Conference men's tennis action at the Northfields Activity Center this afternoon.

Junior Darko Minic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) and senior Ricky Sanford (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) both posted two-set wins in their singles after recording an 8-1 win over Southern New Hampshire's Brian Hashem and Pat Dias at #1 doubles to lead the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce senior Michael Hoffner (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) blanked junior Kevin Keller 6-0, 6-0 at the #2 seed after teaming up with sophomore Ryan Jones (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) for an 8-0 win at #3 doubles. Jones also recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory in his singles match, defeating junior Craig Thomas at the #6 seed.

Senior Art Shannon (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) posted a two-set win (6-0, 6-0) at #5 singles after an 8-1 win with Maciej Szpakowski (Cieszyn, Poland/Mattituck (N.Y.)) at #2 doubles. Also clinching a win in his singles match was junior J.P. Morgan (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays), who registered a 6-3, 6-2 win at #4 singles.

Franklin Pierce (7-7, 3-1 NE-10) returns to action tomorrow when it hosts Saint Anselm College in a Conference match at 3:30 p.m. Southern New Hampshire University (0-6, 0-6 NE-10) next travels to LeMoyne College on Friday for a Conference matchup at 4 p.m.
