Franklin Pierce Wins Third Straight With a 5-2 Victory Over Bryant

RINDGE, N.H. (April 13, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches with a 5-2 decision over Bryant College in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.

Junior Michael Hoffner (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) secured a three set win at #2 singles over Bryant's Antonio Valero after recording an 8-5 win at #1 doubles with classmate Ricky Sanford (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) to lead the Ravens.

Sophomore Darko Minic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia/XII Belgrade Gimnasium) recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win at #1 singles over Bryant's Jonathan Peiliker and then joined forces with teammate Ryan Jones (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) for an 8-4 win over Miguel Duenas and Jesse Thompson at #3 doubles.

Franklin Pierce (10-9, 6-3 NE-10) returns to action tomorrow when it travels to Dowling College for a non-conference matchup at 1 p.m. The Ravens return home on Monday, when they face Merrimack in a Northeast-10 Conference battle at 3 p.m. Bryant (8-3, 7-2 NE-10) will next travel to Le Moyne College tomorrow for a League matchup at 11 a.m.
