Franklin Pierce Tops AIC, 8-1
RINDGE, N.H. (April 9, 2002) - Franklin Pierce cruised to an 8-1 victory over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action this afternoon.
Juniors Ricky Sanford (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) and Art Shannon (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) and freshmen Maciej Szpakowski (South Holt, N.Y./Mattituck) and Ryan Jones (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) were all double winners for Franklin Pierce, claiming decisions in doubles and singles play.
Senior Pat Teague (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) also picked up a win at number six singles and sophomore J.P. Morgan (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays) teamed with Szpakowski for a win at third doubles. Junior Michael Hoffner (Wantaugh, N.Y./Wantaugh) teamed with Sanford for a victory at first doubles.
Sophomore Cesar Juca claimed the Yellow Jackets lone point with a victory at number one singles.
Franklin Pierce (8-9, 4-3 NE-10) returns to the courts on Thursday when it hosts Saint Michael's College at 3 p.m. AIC (0-7, 0-6 NE-10) hosts Pace University on Thursday.
