Franklin Pierce Gets Past Saint Michael’s

COLCHESTER, Vt. (April 12, 2001) - The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team picked up its second-straight win as it posted a 7-2 victory over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.

The matches of the day came at No. 5 and No. 6 singles as sophomoreRicky Sanford (Bridgeport, Conn./Bunnell) and junior Tim Simmons (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) each rallied from first set losses to earn three-set victories. Sophomore Michael Hoffner (Wantaugh, N.Y./Wantaugh) and senior Tom Hennessey (Manchester, N.H./Tilton Academy) also picked up singles wins for the Ravens. Franklin Pierce swept its three doubles matches.

Franklin Pierce (10-7, 5-2 NE-10) returns to action on Monday, when they travel to North Andover, Mass., to face Merrimack College at 3 p.m.
