Men's Soccer: Back-to-Back-to-Back NE10 Champions

RINDGE, N.H. (12/12/2023) – The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer program recorded its third consecutive Northeast-10 Championship Sunday night in a game decided by penalty kicks with Southern New Hampshire University. The victory extends FPU's win streak to 690 days as the last time the program lost was December 2, 2021.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens were first to get on the board in the 38th minute when Younes Addar Khanoussi (Castellon, Spain) netted his 18th goal of the season off an assist from Aitor Cuenca Retuerto (Bilbao, Spain).
  • Five minutes after the first goal, the Penmen evened the score after Shane Siegel finished on a pass from Mikel Cortazar.
  • Following a two goal first half, neither team could find the back of the net through regulation.
  • During the two ten-minute overtime periods, the Ravens failed to fire a shot and SNHU only tallied one.
  •  Heading to PKs, the crowd at Sodexo offered moments of silence and screams as the two teams lined up their shots. The seven rounds of PKs went as follows:

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • With Sunday's victory, the Franklin Pierce University men's soccer program officially used all four goalies on the roster to win this season. Jett Barbic (Williston, V.T.) played the full 110 minutes which included regulation and two overtime periods. During that time, he faced five shots on goal and recorded four saves.
  • Heading into PKs, sophomore David Skorodumov (Ashland, Mass.) was called up and stood tall in net making one save that played a key factor in the team's 6-5 victory.
