WORCESTER, MASS. (10/20/2023) – The Franklin Pierce men's soccer program kept its undefeated streak alive Friday night with a dominant 3-1 victory over the Assumption University Greyhounds. With the victory, the Ravens improved to 12-0 (7-0, NE10).

The Ravens took control early, scoring the first goal of the game in the 17th minute. The Ravens controlled the ball in the offensive zone and after a string of 17 consecutive passes from Raven to Raven, graduate student Aitor Cuenca (Bilbao, Spain) hit a cross to the opposite side of the goalie crease where graduate student Aaron Sanchez (A Coruña, Spain) headed the ball by the Assumption goalie.

Six minutes later, the Ravens took the 2-0 lead. Operating like surgeons with a soccer ball, the Ravens offense threaded passes through Assumption's defense with precision accuracy. Graduate student Pelayo Gonzalez Suarez (Oviedo, Spain) caught a pass just steps from the endline and hammered it across the goalie crease. After it missed several players, Aaron Sanchez was once again in the right spot at the right time as he caught the pass and fired it into the back of the net scoring his second goal of the game.

A three-goal lead for the Ravens came later in the 59th minute. As the Ravens pushed into the offensive zone, junior Caleb Williams (Attleboro, Mass.) hit a leading pass to graduate student Younes Addar (Castellon, Spain). As Addar tried to catch the pass, he was tripped and taken down which ended in a yellow card for Assumption's Hunter LePage and a free kick for the Ravens. Lined up at the top of the box, Graduate student Jeronimo Ferrando Ferri (Valencia, Spain) launched the free kick and smoked the top right corner, just out of reach of a diving Assumption keeper.

In the 61st minute, the Greyhounds pressed into the offensive zone and scored their only goal of the game. Slipping by the Ravens, Grant Maurer secured a pass and fired a shot by FPU sophomore goalie Diego Montoya Casillas (Cuernavaca, Mexico). Casillas was one-on-one with the Greyhound and did get a piece of the shot after sticking out his left leg, but the ball ultimately dribbled in after the near save.

Closing out the game and tacking on another victory, the Ravens have now outscored their opponents 47-9 through twelve games.

NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: Franklin Pierce men's soccer will return to Rindge for their next game, taking on Saint Anselm on Wednesday, October 25th at 7PM.
