RINDGE, N.H. (10/4/2023) –
The No. 1 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University men's soccer program rolled to a 9-0 (5-0, NE10) record Wednesday night after the Ravens took down the Southern Connecticut State University Owls 1-0.

For the Ravens, the victory marks a 26-game win streak dating back to 9/20/2022 when the team tied against Lemoyne in a 0-0 match. When it comes to losses, the Ravens haven't been downed since December of 2021 when the team fell to Millserville in the third round of the NCAA Championship in a game decided by PKs. To break it down, that means the Franklin Pierce University men's soccer program hasn't lost in more than 670 days.

During the matchup Wednesday night, the Ravens continued their same strategy: patience and dominance. Through the first 45 minutes of the game, Franklin Pierce possessed the ball for the majority of the time and were constantly on the attack outshooting SCSU 11-0. Though the opportunities were there, the Ravens couldn't find the back of the net in the first half marking only the third time this season that FPU didn't hold a lead going into halftime.

In the second half, the Ravens kept business as usual dominating up and down the pitch but the Owls continued to hold the score at 0-0.

With just eight minutes left in the game, Raven fans in the crowd were on the edge of their seats as they watched the closest game their team had seen so far this season. Just moments later, fans went from the edge of their seats to standing on their feet and cheering.

During a long possession in the 82nd minute, FPU graduate forward Alvero Rey Mira (Cabanas, Spain) pushed the ball into the offensive zone. He planted his foot and kicked a cross towards the goalie crease. Waiting there hungry for a goal was graduate forward Younes Addar (Castellon, Spain) who was shoulder to shoulder with his defender. Addar jumped up, and headed the ball between the left post and a diving Owl goalkeeper igniting cheers and the team's signature goal song that was heard from across the Rindge Campus. With the 1-0 lead, the Ravens were able to kill the rest of the remaining time, capturing their ninth victory of the season.

Though the Ravens only buried one goal in the match, the team outshot the Owls 30-1. FPU senior goalkeeper recorded the victory after making one save in the game.

NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens will have a little over a week to rest as their next match is set for Friday October 13th when the team will face American International at home at 4PM.
