WEST HAVEN, C.T. (9/30/2023) -- The No. 1 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce men's soccer team wrapped up their four-game road trip Saturday with a 3-0 win over the University of New Haven at Kathy Zolad Stadium.

Franklin Pierce remains undefeated and improves to 8-0-0 (5-0-0 NE-10), and New Haven falls to 4-3-1 (2-2-1 NE-10) with the loss.

The Ravens tested New Haven graduate goalkeeper Gianluca Cerosimo early in the match, but he made key saves to keep it 0-0 heading into halftime.

The second half was all Ravens, as they found the back of the net three times. All three goals came from three different players. In the 60th minute, graduate defender Rodrigo Parafita Bestilliero (A Coruna, Spain) sent the ball into the box, and graduate defender Aitor Cuenca Retuerto (Bilbao, Spain) buried the ball into the right corner of the net for his second goal of the season to make it 1-0 Franklin Pierce. A little over eight minutes later, Franklin Pierce made it 2-0 on a goal by graduate forward Younes Addar Khanoussi (Castellon, Spain). Sophomore midfielder Antonio Lampreia Lima (Lisbon, Portugal) was moving the ball down the right-side line, and he sent the ball into the box. Khanoussi settled the ball in front of the net and drilled it past the diving Cerosimo for his 13th goal of the season. Franklin Pierce added an insurance goal in the 84th minute. Cuenca Retuerto split the New Haven defense and fired a shot toward Cerosimo. Cerosimo made the save, but no one was guarding Lima in front of the net as he tapped the ball into the net for his fourth goal of the season to make it 3-0.

Franklin Pierce outshot New Haven 22-3. Sophomore goalkeeper Diego Montoya Casillas (Cuernavaca, Mexico) made one save in the win. He improved to 5-0-0 and picked up his third clean sheet of the season. Cerosimo made eight saves for New Haven in the loss.
