Men's Soccer Ranked 24th in Latest National Poll

RINDGE, N.H. (September 19, 2017) – For the first time this season, the Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team has been ranked nationally by the United Soccer Coaches in the 2017 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Week Three National Poll it was announced Tuesday afternoon.

The rankings were posted by the United Soccer Coaches on their official website.

FPU was unranked during the preseason, week one and the week two edition of the national polls. They earned the no. 24 ranking after beginning the 2017 season with an undefeated 4-0-0, 2-0-0 NE10 mark. In the east region, the Crimson and Grey are fourth out of 10 squads.

Two other Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer programs were ranked by the United Soccer Coaches. Southern New Hampshire University (4-0-1) came in at 14th in the poll as they improved one spot from last week's rankings. Adelphi University remains ranked third in all of Division II at 4-0-1 this year.

The Ravens will travel to Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, October 14th at 7:00 p.m. while FPU will host Adelphi at home on Saturday, October 21st with gametime set for 7:00 p.m. Merrimack College, another NE10 institution, also received consideration for the rankings.

Franklin Pierce is led by a stingy backline defensive unit, strong goaltending and two freshman forwards. Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) the reigning NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week, has recorded three straight shutout victories as he hasn't allowed a goal past him during his last 324:50 minutes in the cage. He currently leads NE10 goalies in save percentage (.929), goals against (1) and goals against average (0.24). His save percentage and goals against average ranks seventh in the entire nation. Freshman Yannik Felber (Koblenz, Germany) a two-time NE10 Rookie of the Week selection, leads the Ravens offensive attack with a team-best three goals and six points. Classmate Oran Ben Zion (Tel Aviv, Israel) has poured in one goal and one assist across three games – two starts.

The no. 24 ranked Ravens will play host to NE10 foe The College of Saint Rose tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
