Madden, Blixt Connect for Two Goals, Ravens Earn First NE-10 Win

Colchester, Vt. (September 13, 2016) – Sophomore defender Charlie Madden (Newton Abbot, United Kingdom) notched two goals and freshman midfielder Jacob Blixt (Borrby, Sweeden) added three assists as the Franklin Pierce men's soccer team won their third straight game, 3-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference opener over Saint Michael's College Tuesday afternoon. The win moves the Ravens to 3-0, 1-0 NE-10 and the setback drops the Purple Knights to .500 at 2-2, 0-1.

The last time the Crimson and Grey started the season with three straight wins was 2011 when they finished the year 21-1-1 and made an appearance in the NCAA Division II National Semifinal game.

Both of Madden's scores came off free kicks from Blixt who crossed the ball into box to Madden whom headed them home for scores. The first goal came at the 14th minute from 30 yards out and the second gino was dumped in from the left endline.

Blixt racked up his third assist of the game when he connected with team captain Marius Preber (Jessheim, Norway) for his team leading fifth goal of the season in the 53rd minute.

Freshman Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) continued his strong play in net with five saves and improved to 3-0 on the campaign. Daniel du Feu and Gabriel Pineda each played a half in net making two saves apiece. Du Feu took the loss as he allowed two goals.

The Ravens return to the pitch on Saturday, September 17 when they travel to Stonehill for an 11:00 a.m. conference contest.
