First weekly conference award for Espindola

RINDGE, N.H. (October 21, 2013) – Franklin Pierce University freshman standout Pedro Espindola (Sao Paulo, Brazil) on Monday was named the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week. It marked the first weekly conference award for Espindola in his collegiate career, and the second-straight week the Ravens were honored by the NE-10 as senior Gareth Dudney (North Andover, Mass.) was named the league’s player of the week last week.

Espindola received the recognition after a pair of impressive performances last week, including a three-point afternoon in a 3-0 win at Saint Anselm last Wednesday. Espindola assisted on George Levantakis’ (Lynnfield, Mass.) second half goal, and then struck home a blast of his own at the final buzzer for his first collegiate goal.

Espindola followed up that performance on Saturday with an amazing 13-shot effort in a narrow 1-0 setback to Adelphi. Seven of Espindola’s 13 shots went on goal, and three got past the Adelphi goalkeeper, only to be kicked away by a Panther defender at the last second.

Franklin Pierce returns to action Tuesday night when the Ravens play host to Saint Michael’s at 7 p.m. on Sodexo Field in Rindge.
