#2 Men's Soccer Concludes Unbeaten Regular Season with 2-1 Win at Le Moyne

Ravens 28-0-2 in its last 30 regular season matches dating back to last season

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (October 29, 2011) -- The No. 2 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team concluded its 2011 regular season without a loss on Saturday as the Ravens picked up an impressive 2-1 win at Le Moyne in Syracuse, N.Y. The Ravens ran their record to 16-0-1 overall and 12-0-1 in the Northeast-10, while the Dolphins fell to 10-7-1 and 9-4 in league play.

Franklin Pierce, which won the NE-10 regular season crown on Tuesday, will now get ready for the postseason which begins on Tuesday with the conference quarterfinals. The Ravens have home-field advantage throughout the conference tournament and will play host to eighth-seeded Stonehill. A time is still to be determined, but will be announced later this weekend.

Since a 1-0 setback at Dowling back on Sept. 7 of last season, Franklin Pierce has gone its last 30 regular season matches without a loss and are 28-0-2 during that time.

The Ravens scored both of its goals early in Saturday's win. The first tally came in the 22nd minute when freshman Tom Wampler (Attleboro, Mass.) fed a pass to classmate Trent Roy (Stratham, N.H.), who chipped in a shot from the 18 past the Le Moyne keeper. It was Roy's third marker of the season, while Wampler earned an assist on the play.

Franklin Pierce's second goal came five minutes later, and this time Wampler picked up the tally as he took a pass from graduate back Tom Leaver (Warwickshire, UK) and fired a shot past the Dolphins keeper from the left side of the box. It was Wampler's first of his collegiate career, while Leaver notched an assist for his first point in a Franklin Pierce uniform.

Wampler's goal would prove to be the match-winner, as Le Moyne scored in the 79th minute when Eddy Rosenburgh slipped a shot past Franklin Pierce keeper Vinny Papageorgiou (Wilmington, Mass.) to make it 2-1.

However, Franklin Pierce would not let Le Moyne get any closer as the Ravens would hold the Dolphins scoreless the rest of the way. Papageorgiou made seven saves to earn the win and run his record to 16-0-1 on the season.
