WEST HAVEN, Conn. (September 19, 2010) – Sophomore back Tyler Rosa (Rehoboth, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal 2:38 into the second overtime on Sunday afternoon as the Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team picked up a 1-0, double-overtime, road victory over New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference play at Kayo Field.

With the victory, Franklin Pierce improves to 4-1-0 (2-0-0 Northeast-10), while New Haven falls to 2-3-1 (2-3-0 Northeast-10).

The entirety of regulation went scoreless, though the Ravens controlled much of the run of play. Through 90 minutes, Franklin Pierce held an 11-2 advantage in shots, including 5-0 in shots on goal, in addition to a 10-3 edge in corner kicks.

The game remained without a goal through the first 10-minute overtime and into the second, before Rosa's goal in the 103rd minute sent the Ravens home with the win. Junior midfielder Paul Latif (Newcastle, England) took a corner kick for Franklin Pierce. The ball wound its way into the six-yard box and was deflected. Rosa found the rebound with his head and his header found the back of the net for the game-winner and his first goal of the season.

Franklin Pierce finished the contest with a 14-3 advantage in shots and a 12-3 edge in corner kicks.

Thanks to the efforts of the Franklin Pierce defense, junior goalkeeper Vinny Papageorgiou (Wilmington, Mass.) did not have to make a save while posting his third clean sheet of the season to pick up the win (4-1-0) for the Ravens. Junior Jonathan Creem made six saves and took the loss (2-3-1) in front of the New Haven net.

The Ravens return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 22, when they return home to host Le Moyne in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Sodexo Field in Rindge.
