Trio of Men's Soccer Standouts (Dawkins, Hay & Taylor) Participate in NEISL All-Star Game
Taylor scores match-tying goal in the second half
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (November 29, 2010) -- Franklin Pierce
University men's soccer standouts Shaliek Dawkins
(Kingston, Jamaica), Jeff Hay (Dudley, Mass.) and
Shaun Taylor (Isle of White, England) participated
in the 2010 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL)
All-Star Game on Nov. 28 at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
All three players recently completed their final year of
eligibility with the Ravens' program.
The All-Star game pitted the top Division II players from New
England colleges against the top Division I players in the
Northeast. The match ended in a 1-1 tie after Taylor blasted home
the equalizer for the Division II All-Stars in the second half.
A large crowd was on hand to watch the event, including family,
friends and scouts from the various Major League Soccer teams.
Taylor's second-half heroics in the All-Star Game came on the heels
of a strong 2010 season. He was named the Northeast-10
Championship's Most Outstanding Player after he slammed home a goal
to lift the Ravens to a 1-0 win over Bentley in the league title
match. For the year, he scored six goals and assisted on three
others for 15 points.
Dawkins' appearance in the NEISL All-Star Game was a fitting end to
his outstanding four-year Franklin Pierce career. As a senior in
2010, he anchored one of the nation's top defensive units and
earned Honorable-Mention All-America honors from Daktronics.
Dawkins also earned first-team honors from the Northeast-10
Conference and the Daktronics East Region Committee.
Hay, a graduate back, led the Ravens in goals this season with
seven and earned Third-Team All-Northeast-10 honors.
All three players were major contributors to Franklin Pierce's
amazing season in 2010. The Ravens won the Northeast-10 Conference
regular season and tournament championships, while advancing to the
quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Tournament. The conference
titles were the first for the program since 2006, and the trip to
the national quarters was the program's first since 2007. Franklin
Pierce was ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation during the year
and finished the season ranked sixth.
