Men's Soccer to Gear Up for 2011 Season with Challenging Spring Schedule

Ravens getting set for an exciting spring schedule

RINDGE, N.H. (February 4, 2011) -- The defending Northeast-10 Conference champion Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team is coming off a thrilling 2010 season, and is already looking forward to the 2011 season, which will begin in early September. However, prior to the fall season, the Ravens will gear up with an exciting spring exhibition schedule which will feature several top Division I & II programs in the Northeast.

The spring schedule will feature six matches, with three of those being held at Sodexo Field on the Rindge campus. The slate begins on Wednesday, March 30, when the Ravens travel to face Division I-foe and CAA member Northeastern at 6:30 p.m. in Brookline, Mass.

Franklin Pierce returns home the following Wednesday (April 6) to play host to another Division I-opponent, this time Big East Conference member Providence, at 6:30 p.m. Ravens' head coach Craig Stewart served as an assistant coach on the Providence staff prior to his arrival in Rindge. In just two short years as a head coach, Stewart has established himself as one of the top young coaches in the Northeast-10 and the East Region, leading the Ravens to a 30-7-5 record, two NCAA Tournament berths, and the Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament championships in 2010.

The Ravens travel to Durham, N.H., on Friday, April 15 to take on the University of New Hampshire at 6:30 p.m. UNH is a Division I-member competing in America East.

Franklin Pierce comes back to Sodexo on Thursday, April 21, to take on Bentley at 6:30 p.m., as the contest will be a rematch of last season's NE-10 championship match (a 1-0 win for the Ravens over the Falcons). The Ravens will also face former NE-10 rival and current Northeast Conference (Division I member) opponent Bryant University on Wednesday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. in Rhode Island.

Franklin Pierce will conclude the spring season on Saturday, April 30 with the "Old Boys" Alumni Game at Sodexo Field.
