BOXSCORE
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (November 15, 2009) – The
25th-ranked Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team
concluded its season Sunday with a tough 1-0 loss to No. 6 Le Moyne
in the NCAA Division II Tournament East Region Semifinals at Niland
Athletic Complex in Syracuse, N.Y. The fifth-seeded Ravens
concluded their season with a 13-5-3 mark, while the top-seeded
Dolphins improved to 18-2-2.
The Ravens were very aggressive throughout the entire contest and
had several strong scoring chances. Freshman midfielder
Samuel Kelley (Bedford, N.H.) had a team-high six
shots in the contest, while Frantz Francois (West Palm
Beach, Fla.), Paul Latif (Newcastle,
England) and Victor Goncalves (Rio de Janeiro,

However, Le Moyne goalkeeper Steve White made four saves in the
contest to keep his team in it.
The Dolphins finally broke through in the 65th minute with a goal
from Angelo Reina, which proved to be the game-winning tally.
Franklin Pierce sophomore goalkeeper Vinny Papageorgiou
(Wilmington, Mass.) made a pair of saves in the contest to
keep his team in it, but came up just short. Despite the setback,
he concluded his season with a strong 11-4-2 record and eight
shutouts.
Sunday’s contest marked the third meeting between the two
squads this season. All three matches were held at Le Moyne and saw
the Dolphins pull out one-goal wins each time.
