COLCHESTER, Vt. (September 24, 2008) - Defending NCAA Division II Champion Franklin Pierce University remained unbeaten in conference play with a 4-0 victory over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer action at Duffy Field this afternoon.

Freshman forward Viktor Goncalves (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) collected two goals and an assist for five points to lead Franklin Pierce to the victory. The win extends the Ravens unbeaten run in NE-10 regular season contests to 19 matches (16-0-3) which dates back to a 1-0 loss here to Saint Michael's in October 2006. Junior Kensaku Tsuji (Tokushima, Japan) and sophomore Adit Phataraprasit (Bangkok, Thailand) also netted goals for the Ravens. 


Freshman Vinny Papageorgiou made one save to preserve his second-straight shutout.

Freshman goalkeeper Vinny Papageorgiou (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) made one save to preserve his second-straight shutout for Franklin Pierce. Junior Jason Burnett (South Burlington, Vt./IMG Academy) made ten stops in goal for Saint Michael's, which was out-shot 22-7 for the match.

Gonçalves opened the scoring 19:03 into the contest with an unassisted strike, before Phataraprasit took a feed from senior Frantz Francois (Saint-Marc, Haiti) and doubled Franklin Pierce's lead less than five minutes later. Gonçalves provided a three-goal cushion just under the hour mark with another unassisted tally, before earning an assist, along with freshman Michael Busto (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School), on Tsuji's first goal of the season in the 84th minute.

Papageorgiou's lone save of the afternoon came just after halftime on a shot from sophomore Blake Schill (Essex Junction, Vt./Worcester Academy) in the 50th minute.

Franklin Pierce (4-4-1, 3-0-1 NE-10) is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Stonehill College at 7 p.m. Saint Michael's (4-4-1, 1-2-1 NE-10) hosts Le Moyne College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
