Sixth-seeded Ravens continue National Championship defense against second-seeded and host Golden Lions on Sunday

RINDGE, N.H. (November 15, 2008) - Third-seeded Franklin Pierce University and second-seeded Dowling College, ranked 12th in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, will square off in second round action of the 2008 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championships at Golden Lions Field on Sunday.

The match up between Franklin Pierce (13-7-2, 9-3-1 NE-10) and Dowling (16-3-0, 8-0-0 ECC) will feature the last two National Champions at the Division II level. Franklin Pierce are the defending National Champions after posting a 1-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial University in Orange Beach, Ala., last December, while Dowling captured the title in 2006 with a 1-0 decision over Fort Lewis University in Pensacola, Fla.

Admission for Sunday's match will be $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students and senior citizens and $2.00 for children, with those under the age of two admitted free. Dowling will be providing live stats for the match, which will be available through both the Franklin Pierce athletics website (athletics.franklinpierce.edu) as well as Dowling's athletics site (www.dowlingathletics.com).

The winner of Sunday's contest will advance to the NCAA Division II East Region Championship next weekend. They will face the winner of Sunday's other regional semifinal between fourth-seeded University of Massachusetts Lowell (12-3-4, 9-1-3 NE-10) and top-seeded and host Southern New Hampshire University (15-2-4, 9-1-3 NE-10) in Manchester, N.H., at 1 p.m.

Schneider scored the lone goal of the match in the 62nd minute and Veljovic made five saves to preserve the shutout.

The two teams squared off in the quarterfinal round of the 2007 NCAA Tournament at Sodexo Field in Rindge, N.H.
