BOCA RATON, Fla. (September 11, 2008) - Lynn University, ranked 3rd in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, scored four goals in the first half and never looked back in posting a 5-0 victory over reigning NCAA Division II National Champion Franklin Pierce University on day one of the Lynn/Embassy Suites Classic at the McCusker Sports Complex this afternoon.

Senior midfielder Jean Alexandre (Delray Beach, Fla./Atlantic) totaled five points with two goals and an assist, while classmate Tyrell Burgess (Smiths, Bermuda) added a goal and two assists for four points to lead the Lynn attack. Senior back Nano Short (London, England) added a goal and assist, while junior Gabe Taboada (Boca Raton, Fla./American Heritage) dished two assists.

Sophomore goalkeeper Adam Alcock (Stoke-on-Trent, England) made one save to preserve the Knights fourth shutout in five matches this season. Sophomore Carl Contrascier (Hinkley, Ohio/Highland) finished with one stop in goal for Franklin Pierce. Lynn posted a 17-2 advantage in shots for the match, including a 10-1 margin in the first half.

Burgess netted the only goal Lynn would need just 7:57 into the match, when he one-timed a cross from the right side by Short past Contrascier. Alexandre netted the Knights next two goals in the 20th and 25th minutes, with Taboada and Burgess collecting assists on both markers. Short rounded out the first half scoring with an unassisted strike in the 33rd minute.

Franklin Pierce, playing its third nationally-ranked opponent in five days, got both its shots from senior Frantz Francois (Saint-Marc, Haiti), who attended high school in nearby Palm Beach Lakes.
