The next generation of MLS stars is gathering at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, to participate in the 2006 Combine. Four players - M.A.C. Hermann Trophy winner Jason Garey, Brian Plotkin, Mehdi Ballouchy and Yura Movsisiyan - have already signed contracts with MLS ahead of the draft, which will take place in Philadelphia, PA, on Friday 20 January.

In total, 74 players will be hoping to impress the watching MLS coaches and scouts over the next four days. Representing New England interests will be the UConn Huskies' duo of Mpho Moloi and Willis Forko, Jordan Russolillo of Southern Connecticut and Franklin Pierce and NSCAA Division II Player of the Year, Christopher Joyce. In addition, UConn goalkeeper Adam Schuermann will join the proceedings as a pool player.

63 of the positions at the Combine are taken up by college seniors, with the rmeinaing 11 being claimed by ‘Generation adidas' members. These players have foregone the remaining years of college soccer in order to begin their professional careers early. There had been rumors that Boston College's Charlie Davies and Duke's Mike Videira (of Milford, MA) were on MLS' shortlist for potential ‘Generation adidas' positions. However, by not appearing on the list of names released yesterday, the pair will more than likely return to their respective schools for at least one more season.
