No. 8 Franklin Pierce Hangs On For NE-10 Win
Ravens Score Early, Then Shut Down Warriors
N.ANDOVER, Mass. (October 18, 2000)- Junior forward Tate Travis (Detroit, Mich.) scored 6:23 into the contest and eighth-ranked Franklin Pierce held on for a 1-0 victory over Merrimack.
Junior midfielder Dan D'Angelo (New Paltz, N.Y.) assistsed on the lone goal that proverd to be the difference in the NE-10 win, played in a steady downpour. Travis's goal gave him eight on the season, good for second on the Franklin Pierce scoring list behind Ernest Olius (Hillside, N.J.). The duo are tied for the team lead in points with 19.
Franklin Pierce held a slight advantage in shots, taking 15 in the match to host Merrimack's 13. Senior goalkeeper Rob Scholz (Schenectady, N.Y.) made six saves in recording his fourth shutout of the season. Sophomore Tim Crowley (Warwick, R.I.) made nine stops in the loss for Merrimack.
The Ravens are back in action on Saturday when they travel to New Haven, Conn. for a showdown against 20th-ranked Southern Connecticut State University. The game will be upated live from SCSU at 7:00, following the women's game at 4:30.
