Bio

Matt Richard enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team in 2019.

Rindge marks the first collegiate coaching stop for Richard, who was a standout just up the road at Division III New England College. A three-time selection as North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, he finished as the school's all-time leading scorer with 423 points, on 170 goals and 253 assists. The 253 assists also mark an NEC program record. Richard was a four-time All-NAC selection for the Pilgrims, as he earned Second Team honors as a freshman, in addition to his three First Team accolades, which accompanied the Player of the Year selections.

While at NEC, Richard led the Pilgrims to three NCAA Championship appearances, three straight NAC titles and four straight appearances in the NAC title game. In his senior season, NEC picked up its first-ever NCAA Championship victory, with a 10-9, overtime triumph over Albion in the first round. Richard finished his senior campaign with 93 assists, to establish a new NCAA Division III single-season record.

Originally from Weare, N.H., Richard is a 2018 graduate from New England College, with a degree in education. He is pursuing his master's degree at Franklin Pierce.
