Edward Noonan Named NE-10 Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Eric Harries named to weekly honor roll
RINDGE, N.H. (March 8, 2011) -- Franklin Pierce
University freshman midfielder Edward Noonan (Foxboro,
Mass.) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the
Week on Tuesday for his outstanding performance in Saturday's 9-8
come-from-behind win over Dominican. It marked the first time in
three years that the Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse program earned
a weekly award from the conference.
Noonan earned the week's top rookie award after he scored three
goals and assisted on another for four points to help the Ravens
pick up the victory over Dominican and begin the season with
back-to-back wins for the second-straight season.
Noonan also recorded an assist in Wednesday's 13-7 season-opening
win over Curry. For the week, he finished with three goals and two
assists for five points. His goals and points rank as the third
most on the squad, while his assists are tied for the team lead.
Noonan also ranks seventh in the NE-10 in assists per game at 1.0
helpers a contest.
Also on Tuesday, junior midfielder Eric Harries
(Dunstable, Mass.) was named to the Northeast-10 Weekly
Honor Roll for his impressive performances last week. Harries
finished the first week of the season tops on the team with six
goals and seven points. He scored four times in his Franklin Pierce
debut on Wednesday, and followed with a two-goal performance,
including tossing in the game-winning marker with just 2:18
remaining, to lift the Ravens to victory on Saturday.
Success was not just limited to those individuals, but the entire
team enjoyed some outstanding news on Tuesday as the Ravens jumped
into the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA)
Regional Poll, as they appeared in fifth place. It marked the first
regional ranking for the program this season.
Franklin Pierce is off to a 2-0 start for just the second time in
program history. They also accomplished the feat last season in
head coach Rick Senatore's first season at the helm of the program.
Prior to Senatore's arrival, Franklin Pierce had never won a
season-opening game in its first 12 years.
The Ravens return to action seeking their third-consecutive win on
Wednesday, March 16, when they travel to face Mercy. Franklin
Pierce returns to home to Sodexo Field on April 2, when it plays
host to Bentley at 3 p.m.
