Men's Lacrosse Suffers First Loss of Season at #5 Bentley on Saturday
Sophomore Jimmy McInnis scored twice for the Ravens and assisted on another goal for a three-point afternoon
WALTHAM, Mass. (March 27, 2010) -- The Franklin
Pierce University men's lacrosse team dropped its first game of the
season on Saturday as the Ravens fell, 18-4, to fifth-ranked
Bentley in Waltham, Mass. Franklin Pierce dipped to 4-1 overall and
1-1 in the Northeast-10, while the Falcons improved to 3-1 and 2-0
in league play.
Sophomore Jimmy McInnis (Amherst, Mass.) scored
twice and assisted on another goal for a three-point afternoon.
Brendan Cahill (Hollis, N.H.) and John
Scanlan (Great Neck, N.Y.) each tallied a goal for
the Ravens as well.
Junior goalkeeper Shea Campbell (Centerport, N.Y.)
made 15 saves despite taking the loss in net.
Six Bentley players scored multiple goals, including Wyatt Couture,
who notched a team-high three goals. Goalkeeper Andy Collette made
seven saves to earn the win.
Bentley scored the game's first eight goals, including six in the
first period, before Franklin Pierce put in two tallies to make it
8-2 with 4:49 left in the first half. Cahill scored his team's
first goal, while Scanlan followed.
The Falcons then scored nine-consecutive goals, bridging the second
to fourth periods after the back-to-back tallies by Franklin
Pierce. McInnis scored twice in the fourth period to round out the
scoring for Franklin Pierce.
Franklin Pierce returns to action Tuesday night when the Ravens
travel to face Merrimack at 7 p.m. in North Andover, Mass. For more
